The site is divided into three sections:

History will include a downloadable e-book which is a consolidation of all the previous information which was uploaded to our old site since 2004. Very detailed timelines cover the years before, during and after the Bakumatsu Era will also be available.

Fiction will list links to works of original and fan writing, a small art gallery,photographs and a filmography by Michael who is a member of the NinjaDojo.com.

Makoto will be home to the Makoto Multi-media Dojo which will list links to original videos and audio. You are welcome to take a peek at our youtube channel.

SHQ moved to a new hosting provider AlohaWorld on 8.16.2008 and will be back up online 100% in the near future.

Please remember that the Shinsengumi were and still are a very controversial historical group. We will address their legacy using various approaches because the group was formed and dissolved in a political atmosphere they did not create and yet finally they became part of Japan's most critical pre-modern period.

Thus, our site is a crossroads for many fields however what is history, which can be cited from text, will be noted as such. What is hearsay or considered to be part of the rich lore surrounding the Shinsengumi will also be explicitly stated. If we are not sure of a detail, it is generally part of lore which has been handed down and has no "source". In essence, it is actually possible to label and restate what we know is recorded in text by scholars and also information which straddles the realm of fiction and non-fiction. In doing so we hope to be respectful of the overall narrative and establish a general foundation for current and future enthusiasts in this fascinating field.
